BaMM’s ninth season returns with full splash, centered around Bach’s magnificent and most joyful work, the great B Minor Mass, March 12-14, 2027. This piece gathers all Bach cultivated through his prolific and diligent life’s work in an exhibition of all he valued and mastered. It is righteously difficult to sing, illuminated with all the glorious instruments – three trumpets, three oboes, two flutes, full strings and continuo, as well as virtuoso natural horn – again in collaboration with the choir Roots in the Sky conducted by Andrew Major, and a quartet of Grammy-winning soloists.
Our subscription offerings commence in October with a coveted, all-star cast of early music singers in Montana Vespers II, sharing contemplative works with an emphasis on the Anglican tradition. In January, we’re invited by Tinworks to celebrate their new arts space and inaugural exhibit with the complete Biber Mystery Sonatas. We pair each scordatura or “mis-tuned” sonata with an artwork by a local contemporary Montana artist, richly connecting Montana’s art scene with Edmonia’s spirituality, art, and family. Summer kicks off with Air de Couer, starring our beloved Messiah and B Minor tenor, Jimmie Reese, singing pastoral, suave, and sensuous songs ala Francaise and the debut of the wooden flute on our subscription series. August wraps up with historical early romantic performance practice on gut. Resulting from a state of depression, turbulent reflection, and fevered study of the chamber works of his revered predecessors, Schumann’s Inner Voices shine in his String Quartet No. 1.
Our ninth season rounds out with a Sonata Tramontana tour of the eastern part of the state with Suave Melodia in September, resurrection of a Bozeman tradition with Community Messiah Sing in December, Youthful Splendor in May, and a summer of Bach at Trails, High Places, and our annual Workshop. You enable historical arts across our region, and I’m elated to share with you our voluptuous 2026-27 season!
