Announcing
our 2024-25 Season
Welcome from Carrie
Heading into our 7th Season, we’re prepped for our biggest splash yet!
There are two highlights I just can’t hold back sharing right off the bat. First, it’s pinch-worthy that we’ve been invited by the renowned Tippet Rise Arts Center to appear in their esteemed concert series in September. We’ve also been invited to record our next album there! We hope you’ll join us as we tour our album concert program in November in preparation for our recording, and check out our Kickstarter fundraiser sharing the story of the project. Albums open doors for musicians, and our inaugural album largely influenced these extraordinary double invitations from Tippet Rise. Second, it’s a 20-year dream-come-true to stage the region’s first period instrument Handel’s Messiah, with Grammy nominated soloists, a period band of nearly 20+ musicians plus choir. All this is made possible thanks to a gift from Drs. Dennis and Anne Wentz. I love the Messiah for its journey from dark to light and the collective experience of this humanistic marathon.
For our Subscription series, we have a fantastic season opener September 11-15 with A Montana Vespers, a vocal ensemble program for eight musicians with some of my favorite repertoire. January’s Beyond Baroque program is an ambitious dive into the Romantic string quartet idiom with dear friends. June’s Thistle marks the return of the amazing folk-baroque fiddler David Greenberg, who brings his colleague Chris Norman to treat us with bagpipes and flutes. We round out the season in August with a Commedia dell’arte program, which explores the stock masked characters that loom large in so many of our beloved tales, music, and art, brought to life by actor Mace Perlman and features a show at Bozeman’s awesome comedy club.
Additional concerts include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in January, with a great local band in preparation for my concerto-solo appearance with the Battle Creek Symphony in Michigan. BaMM has been invited to share our wonderful Voltaire program at the Yellowstone Art Museum as part of the Billings Symphony Sukin Series in April. Also in April we celebrate our local young musicians as concerti soloists in our 4th biennial Youthful Splendor show. During the summer, keep an eye out for us on mountain tops, local trails, lectures, and of course cavorting with students of all ages during our annual workshop.
Our flourishing is made possible by you, dear patron. A tremendous thank you for the success you’ve enabled, and thank you to our volunteers, collaborators, and donors along every step of this adventure. I’m especially grateful to Dr. Richard and Mrs. Patti Lewallen as Season Sponsors for the third year in a row, as well as for their generous gift that created our endowment. Three cheers for baroque music in Montana and three cheers for the Lewallens!
–Carrie
