Joining us from Spain, the Valencia Baryton Project celebrates their newly released Naxos recording, joined by Baroque Music Montana’s own Carrie Krause. The Baryton was Haydn’s favorite instrument for which to compose, having written over 100 compositions for this fretted and multi-stringed instrument. Musicians performing on historic period instruments–including baryton, violin, viola, and cello–share entertaining tales, trios of Haydn, and beautiful modern compositions for variety in this one hour program.
What is a baryton? Matthew Baker, of the Valencia Baryton Project explains in this article from BerkleeNow.
